We meet at Troy Lake next to the River Colne and Grand Union Canal near Harefield (approach from A412, turning between Denham and West Hyde, signposted for Rickmansworth Sailing Club. Turn Left at the small MOT garage and, once passed the Marble and Granite Centre, drive along the track for 500m to the sailing club.
From the sailing club, we kayak up the canal to our slalom site adjacent to the Coy Carp pub. There is whitewater from sluices entering the canal in a wide weir pool, with permanent slalom gates for training.
We have a WhatsApp Group, to enable us to keep in touch and communicate information regarding sessions and events, to join please either email: firstname.lastname@example.org or text us on 07951 770241.
Paddlers at Harefield can use the changing facilities, toilets and showers at Rickmansworth Sailing Club. We remind you of the need to wear session appropriate clothing, particularly in the cold weather.
We provide kayak, paddle (with pogies to keep hands warm), bouyancy aid, helmet and instruction.
You’ll need a change of clothes and towel, and dress expecting to get wet. Several layers of shirts/sweatshirt/fleece and a waterproof cagoule should keep you warm enough (or a wetsuit if you have one). Wear trainers (not too bulky).
