Slalom Report 2017
Well Done Folks 2017 has been a mixed season for The Sharks, we have had some excellent results but could have done with some more paddlers racing more often. Something to aim for in 2018.
HPP Slalom Results
Division 1 and 2 slalom results The last events of the season saw Grant Underwood race in Division 1 at Holme Pierrepont on Saturday and James Read race in Division 2 on Sunday. Both were in Men’s K1.
Congratulations Jacob Jacob Simpson won the division 3 slalom at Shepperton by 5 seconds, with an impressive second run on Sunday 22nd October.
Racing Report 2017
Looking to the Future Racing opportunities were limited in 2017, but we still had some good results and need to build up our squads for 2018 and the Club has some great plans going forward. The season for both Sprint and Marathon ending in September.
Slalom Results 14&15 September 2017
Symonds Yat and Tees Barrage Results Shark paddlers were racing at different venues over the weekend, James Read was at Symonds Yat racing Division 2 Men’s K1 whilst Grant Underwood was at the Tees Barrage in Division 1 Men’s K1.
Elmbridge Marathon Report – October 2017
A new Team in Marathon Rankings The Sharks are now a ranking marathon club, after entering the Elmbridge Marathon on the River Thames. A small team, our first ever team took to the water to launch The Sharks new programme for 2018.
Wild Water Racing Report 2017

Another Slalom, Another Promotion Well done to Joel Gunnery, who has been promoted to national division 2 slalom after a fourth and a fifth place finish in the Men’s division 3 K1 event at Cardington slalom at the weekend. Harefield Results – August 2017 Big thank-you to everyone involved in making the Harefield Slalom was our most successful yet, with nearly 120 starts.
Sharks Swimming of the Coast of Bournemouth
Well done Shark Swimmers Congratulations to Grant, Kaycee and Neal Underwood, who swam from Bournemouth Pier to Boscombe Pier, a distance of 1.4 miles in the sea.
Sprint Results July 2017
Sharks Sprinters Two Shark paddlers were racing at the July National Regatta at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.
Shepperton Results June 2017
There was some new Shark talent on display at Shepperton slalom. With two paddlers making their début. In the men's division 4 K1, Jacob Simpson made his first appearance at a slalom and showed real promise, taking fifth place.
Cardington Results – June 2017
Joel Gunnery has made a few eyes open as he raced in his first events of 2017. After taking gold and silver at the London Youth Games, he kicked off his ranking season at Cardington with a sliver on Saturday event and gold on Sunday.
Sharks medal at London Youth Games
The Sharks were in the medals again at the London Youth Games. The slalom event saw Joel Gunnery take gold for Hillingdon in the junior boys' group, whilst clubmate Amelia Combes took bronze in the senior girls' for Ealing.
European Wild Water Championships 2017
Congratulations to Grant Underwood on becoming the first Shark to represent their country at senior level. Grant represented GB at the European Wild Water Racing championships in Skopje, in both classic and sprint events.
May Regatta Results
Just one paddler at the May regatta, Grant Underwood, racing in Men's C K1. Taking third place in the 200m heat in a time of 46.46 he qualified for the final coming 6th in a time of 44:62.
Nene Slalom Report
Four paddlers were racing for The Sharks at the Nene Division 4 (entry level) slalom in Northampton.
GB WWR selection report
Congratulations Grant The selection event for the GB Wild Water Racing team to go to the senior European Championships and for the under 23 Worlds team and senior World Cup event took place at Grandtully in Scotland at the weekend and Loughborough University and Shark paddler Grant Underwood was there.
Woodmill WWR results
The Sharks had a great day in sun soaked Southampton on Saturday 8th April at the Woodmill Regional Sprint format Wild Water Race. The race consisted of two runs down an 800 metre course, with the time of the best run counting as your result.
What a week
The Sharks have kicked spring off with an amazing 85 paddlers on the water in the first week of their Summer Programme. Good weather and hard work made this week a great success. Rounded off on Saturday with a great day's racing at Woodmill.
Ally Judge at Matlock
Congratulations to Ally Judge on taking second place in the Ladies K1 race at the Matlock Wild Water Race. The race was a sprint format in what is one of the nicest race sites in England.
Shepperton Division 2 -Results
James Read is the first Shark paddler to race in slalom this year, taking 19th place in the Men's K1 event on Saturday 11th March at Shepperton Weir, in Sunday's event he came 20th.
New Slalom Coach The Sharks welcome Richard Moore to their coaching team, another coach with international experience.
We are being watched
The Sharks can be seen from space! Google Earth’s picture of the canal by Sac, clearly shows two paddlers in racing K1s paddling along the canal.
