Ivijah debuts in Marathon
After Saturday’s activities at Cardington Slalom; Ivijah Campbell-Bryan was in action again, this time in his first ever ranking Marathon at the Falcon Club in Oxford.
Racing in the George Sanders category B race (entry level for under-14s) Ivijah completed the 3k course in a time of 20 minutes, coming 5th. This is an amazing result for a first time out racing on a river, which offers very different conditions to the canal, so an important learning opportunity as well as a fun race.
Also in action was Shark coach Michael Weaver, who was racing for Falcon, the host club, he raced Division 4 doubles with fellow Falcon member Matt Tennant, the completed the 8 mile race (with two portages) in a time of 1:00:17, coming 6th.
Congratulations to all who took part, it was a great day by the river and many thanks to Falcon Boat Club for hosting the event and for being very supportive of new paddlers.
