WWR – Annual Report 2016

Wild Water Racing 2015/16

The Wild Water Racing season runs from September to August and therefore last season has finished and we are into the new one and it is time to report how we have done.

It was a much quieter season than previously for The Sharks, although we still had three paddlers racing at National level. Unfortunately there are no ranking list available from Wild Water Racing at the time we publish. Since publishing this page Wavehopper rankings have been released and The Sharks are ranked third best in Britain,

Grantusa1

Grant Underwood, is still our top paddler, competing at two National events, The Scottish Open where he was joined by Rod Grundy and James Read. Grant also raced at another national event in Scotland.

Grant is partly funded by Loughborough University’s sports scholarship scheme and is also a GLL Supported athlete.

The Sharks are still London’s number one Wild Water Racing Club and we had some new paddlers coming at Regional Level. Conor Sheehan and Joel Gunnery both entered their first ever Wild Water races this season at Barrow-on-Soar.

Former National racers Adam Stewart (GLL supported Athlete) and Neal Underwood also raced at regional events for The Sharks during 2015/16.

Adam

We are still the Country’s number one provider of Wild Water Races, many thanks to Sue Templeton for organising the Southern Series of Races on behalf if The Sharks. The series was won by Itchen Valley Canoe Club.

There are some good video footage of Wild Water Racing on our YouTube account at: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheSharkscc/videos

Our vision for 2016

Last Year’s Report

In conclusion, we did not achieve as much as we would like to have done, but we have started to prepare for the future. Many thanks to our team managers and coaches.
