Well Done Sharks Paddlers

Another Great Event at Cardington

Shark paddlers were in action at Cardington at the weekend (9th & 10th June), and it was a great event with some good results. Thanks to Viking Kayak Club.

Three Shark paddlers were in action, it was a fantastic weekend and would have been even better if there had been more paddlers. So where were you all?

The best result on Saturday was a first place for Alex Aldred in the Men’s Canoe Singles (C1) Division 4 event. Racing for the first time in C1. Well done Alex.

The Sharks top ranked paddler at the weekend was Daniel Elms, who is making a comeback to slalom this year and raced on both days in Men’s Kayak single (K1). On Saturday he came 23rd in his first Division 2 event and on Sunday he came in 22nd, with a very fast powerful run, but picked up a few penalties.

In Men’s K1 Division 3; Alexx Aldred and Sam Liddy were both in action on the Saturday and took 15th and 18th place respectively; this was the first time either of them had paddles on an artificial course and was a great result and a great learning experience.

It was a fun weekend, for this of you who did not come, you really missed out: Cardington Slalom is set in the Priory Country Park, just outside Bedford, about 60 miles from Harefield and just over an hour’s drive. The artificial course guarantees water levels and a good course. There are facilities to camp onsite. We will be returning in September (1st and 2nd) so why not book that in your diary now. The event will be a division 4 (entry level) as well as a division 3 and division 2.
