Help us to Achieve by Achieving We are setting 24 targets for The Sharks this year, 24 things we want to achieve, all of these are dependent on how we help you to achieve. In order for anything to happen, the first thing we need to do is get people paddling.
Work for The Sharks
We are recruiting teachers and coaches for 2024. Operating at many sites in West London, and in many disciplines The Sharks offer amazing opportunities for qualified instructors to get involved in every aspect of paddlesport. And we pay very well
Your Core Strengths
Exercise to develop your paddling The following is from Slalom Skills, doing these at least three times a week will help your paddling skills in both kayak and canoe, whatever discipline you paddle, whether for recreation of competition.
Harlesden Winter Sessions
Saturday Morning 10:30am Saturday race boat sessions at Harlesden Canal side take place on Saturday morning at 10am. Please check session is running before attending – as we sometimes cancel to attend events.
The Home of our Paddle Racing Teams The Sharks have had a base in Southall for many years and have been paddling on the Canal at Havelock for as long as we have been in Southall. For more information call 07951 770241 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Help Make The Sharks Even Better
We need some voluntary help The Sharks has grown, and continues to grow, we need a few volunteers to help co-ordinate some of our activities and other tasks. If we can grow these ideas, we may even be able to pay. Interested email: email@example.com or call/text 07951 770241.
Harlesden Autumn Sessions
Mondays and Wednesdays at 5pm We are going to restart our Harlesden session on Monday 18th September at 5pm. They will be open to anybody and will cost £6 per person, we accept cash, card, PayPal, or a bank transfer. We will be introducing more sessions in the following weeks.
Greenford Quay 2023
Monday from 4:30pm & Wednesday from 4:30pm Greenford sessions at the Elsdale moored at Greenford Quay, UB6 0FT. Sessions will still cost just £6 per person. For more information call us on 07951 770241 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Urban Life – GLi Partnership
Supporting Paddling in NW10 We are pleased to announce our partnership with GLi (also know as KSP) is to be extended and expanded. We are very grateful for the support GLi through their Urban Life Project, have given us over the past year and look forward to an exciting Summer in Harlesden.
London Youth Games Report – 2022

Want To Represent Your Borough – 14th May We would like as many Shark Paddlers as possible representing the Borough the either live in or go to school in. There are sprint races and a slalom event. In the past we have had LYG winners from The Sharks.
Autumn Sessions in Southall
Meet at the Bridge by Three Bridges School We meet on the green at Havelock Road alongside the green at UB2 4GG at present there are no facilities here other than boat storage in Three Bridges School.
2021 London Youth Games Report
Sharks at LYG Post Pandemic, this was the first chance for some of our paddlers to race, for three of them it was their first race ever, so well done to all of those who took part. Onwards and upwards!

NW10 Time Trials June 17th
The First of Many We had an impromptu time trail at NW10, Harlesden/Park Royal on Thursday 17th June, just four paddlers on what had been an indecisive weather day. But great to kick start our programme get NW10 racing.

We are Back – Again!
Yes, We are Paddling Again – Are YOU? The Sharks are back paddling again after Lockdown 2.0, we were back in action on Saturday 5th December at Southall and NW10 and on Sunday 6th December at Harefield.
To all our Staff The past few months have been a trying and testing time for all of us, The Sharks were up and paddling within days of the lockdown lifted at first with experienced paddlers and then gradually introducing other socially distanced sessions.
We have a Vision
And that vision is starting to become reality The Sharks have been working to create a permanent home or our own in Southall for quite sometime, we could see the potential of converting disused garages and undercroft in to a thriving Community based Canoe Club with gym and more.
Let Us Look Ahead The dates for National Sprint Regattas have been announced for 2021, this may seem a long time off, but it gives us something positive to look forward to at this difficult time.
Just How Fast Can You Go Canoe Sprinting is about making the boat go as fast as you can on flat water normally over distances of 200 metres or 500 metres.

Our Sprint and Marathon Teams will be wearing new kit for 2021 We also have some new kit available for general wear as Slaloms, River Races as well as for Racing. Take a look and let us know what you want.
Havelock, Southall News
Exciting things are happening We are launching a new race club section on the Canal in the Havelock area of Southall, we will be meeting on the Green along Havelock Road, UB2 4GG at 5pm every Tuesday.
Racing Report 2017
Looking to the Future Racing opportunities were limited in 2017, but we still had some good results and need to build up our squads for 2018 and the Club has some great plans going forward. The season for both Sprint and Marathon ending in September.
September Sprint Results
Personal Bests for Conor Conor Sheehan achieved personal best in both 200m and 500m races at Holme Pierrepont, racing in the national under 16 championships. His 200m time was 54.89 seconds and 2 minutes and 28.48 seconds in the 500m race.

Sharks Sprinters Two Shark paddlers were racing at the July National Regatta at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.
Sharks medal at London Youth Games
The Sharks were in the medals again at the London Youth Games. The slalom event saw Joel Gunnery take gold for Hillingdon in the junior boys' group, whilst clubmate Amelia Combes took bronze in the senior girls' for Ealing.

The Shark Teams The Sharks are providing paddlers to both the Ealing’s and Hillingdon’s teams this year, providing 7 paddlers in total.
May Regatta Results
Just one paddler at the May regatta, Grant Underwood, racing in Men's C K1. Taking third place in the 200m heat in a time of 46.46 he qualified for the final coming 6th in a time of 44:62.
Sprint Annual Report – 2016
In 2015, The Sharks invested heavily in Sprint to try and build this competitive discipline up in the club, the Club has continued this policy through 2016 with mixed results.
Sharks Sprint at Holme Pierrepont
Shark paddlers racing at Holme Pierrepont, the home of the National Water Sports Centre on Nottingham, showed the Club has a great future in the discipline lead by specialist Sprint coach Beata Fabinska.
Sharks snap up Regatta third spot
Hillingdon Gazette Wednesday 17th August – HAREFIELD SHARKS took third place in the London Regional Canoe Regatta with some excellent personal results.
London Regatta Results
Eight Shark paddlers travelled over to the London Regatta Centre on Sunday to take part in the London Regional Regatta and they came third overall club in the competition, with some fantastic personal results.
Go Joel – Gunnery breaks London’s sprint dominance
WEST Drayton's Joel Gunnery broke the dominance of the big London sprint clubs after winning the 200m Kayak Junior Sprint at the London Youth Games for Hillingdon.
Adam Stewart gains fourth in his first sprint race as a senior at Marlow
Four Shark paddlers took part in the Sprint Regatta at Marlow: three of them for the first time.
Joel Gunnery crowns Shark Success at London Youth Games
Lianna Nolan and Joel Gunnery represented the London Borough of Hillingdon in the London Youth Games on Saturday 4th June 2016. The Kayaking event took place at the London Regatta Centre, in what was the Royal Albert Dock.

Despite heavy investment in Sprint in 2015, we did not see a huge rise in the numbers taking part. However, the foundations have been prepared for upcoming talent.
