First Race of the Year

Wet, but not cold or Miserable!

A very small team of three people, Jasmin, Liah, and Neal made it to a very wet Barrow-Upon-Soar, for the first Wild Water Race of 2023. It was very wet, the River was very high and fast, but as always a great day out.

Due to the very high level of the water in the river, the start had to be moved down stream as it was too high to race under the first bridge, this combined with the very fast flow of the River made for some fast times.

Jasmin Uhlhorn, was the top Shark paddler in the Women’s K1 race in a time of 15 minutes, 9.49 seconds. She was 5th overall and first senior in a slalom boat.

Liah Boyle was close behind in a time of 15:24.64, she was first J16.

In the Men’s K1 event, Neal Underwood was 12th overall and top V60 paddler, in a time of 12:32.50.

Given the fat that this was the first race of the year, all three are currently ranked number 1 in their respective age groups.

Well done folks, next Barrow Race is on Saturday 11th February, would be good to see some more Shark paddlers there for a fun day out.
