Vintage C2

Pan-Galactic Championships

The very first Pan-Galactic End Cockpit C2 championships took place at The Sharks at Shepperton Slalom on Bank Holiday Monday. This will be a regular feature at our future slaloms, so come along and have the fun.

What are End Cockpit C2s?

In the Dark Days of the, before the mid 1970’s when some one had the bright idea, that C2 would be easier if the cockpits were moved together (creating the friendly boat) and revolutionised the sport, the cockpits were at the ends of the boat. The difference is so big, it really is a separate discipline and that is why, The Sharks have brought back the incredible sport. Take a look at this 1972 Olympic Games footage, it is amazing.

Third Place was a crew of Arkadiusz Bialek and Anand Jones, from Lee Valley Paddlers, Paddling The Czechoslovakian boat with a time of 146, but 56 penalties, it is so much harder to get through in one pass or not to pre-touch live gates. Total 202.

This was an amazing event, great fun and will be a regular feature at our future slaloms, we would like to thank Shepperton Slalom Canoe Club for their help and support, the officials for officiating and to those paddlers who had the imagination to try something different. Sport has to be fun, the more fun you have, the better you will become.
