2023 Final Slalom Rankings
How many paddlers did we have? October’s Stone Slalom brings to the end another Slalom Season and time to look at the final rankings of Shark Paddlers.
Our latest Slalomist Eleven-year-old Ivijah Campbell-Bryan has become our latest paddler to enter a ranking slalom, racing in Division 4 Men’s K1, where he came 5th over all.
Paddling for Fun

Harefield Winter Sessions
Sundays at 10:30am Harefield Sessions will take place on Sunday mornings at 10:30am, the sessions are open to anyone and new members are always welcome. Each session cost £6 per person.

Vintage Slalom 2023
What a great event! On Saturday 23rd September The Sharks hosted a Vintage (1985 rules) Slalom at the Lee Valley, along side the World Championships and it was a great day, old boats and some slightly older people having fun.
Last Friday of the Month Working with our partners at Horsenden Primary School, we are now able to offer free pool sessions on the last Friday of each month (not December), from 7pm till 8:15pm, we will use these sessions for two main purposes, safety work and rolling practice.
Shepperton 2/3 Slalom
Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th October The season is drawing to a close, not many events left, Shepperton is the closest event to us, so who is going to make the short trip there to race? You can enter online here.

Nene 2/3 Slalom
September 30th – October 1st A divisions 2 and 3 slalom on the Nene White Water Course in Northampton, taking place on the weekend of Saturday September 30th and Sunday October 1st. Enter here.
Cardington – September ’23
Slalom Results A bright sunny day at what was the largest participation slalom of the year (or for many years) due to the Interclubs Championships being run as part of the event, congratulations to Stafford and Stone for winning. It would be rally good if The Sharks took part in the 2024 Interclubs Slalom.
Rick at HPP
Division one results Congratulations to Rick Moore, taking 5th spot in the Veterans K1 event at Holme Pierrepont. he is now ranked fifth in the National Rankings for Veteran Men.
Rick Moore winning again At Ironbridge Rick Moore was taking gold in the Veterans K1 event on both Saturday and Sunday. He is currently 6th in the national rankings with 2,734 points.
July Shepperton Results
Two days of racing at Shepperton Slalom proved good for Shark Paddlers in Division 3 and C2.
Trip to Llandysul 2023

Cardington Division 2, 3, & 4 Results. Liah Boyle got her well earned promotion to National Division 3 Ladies’ in K1 Slalom at Cardington Slalom.

Another Rick More Podium Finish Rick Moore was our only paddler at the recent Division 2 Slalom, held on teh legacy loop at Lee Valley, but as always he was on the podium both days.

Matthew Scott 1998 – 2023
It is with great sadness we report the death of Matt Scott, he was a member of Shepperton Slalom Canoe Club, but was also very involved and a great supporter of The Sharks.

Stone March 2023
Slalom Sharks Back in Action Four Shark paddlers made the 300 mile round trip to Stone at the weekend for the Division 3 and 4 slalom, with Liah Boyle making her slalom debut, Jasmin Uhlhorn, Madhav Gadhvi, and Neal Underwood starting their 2023 season.

Division 2 and Division 3 Slalom In the picturesque Wye Valley, this slalom is suitable for all our racked paddlers in Division 2 and Division 3. The event is based at: Symonds Yat, East, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6JL, about 110 miles from Harefield, about a two-and-a-half hours drive.
Stone Mini Slaloms
Sundays January 29th & 12th February A good event for any slalom paddlers, this non ranking event will help you prepare for the 2023 season, especially for any Division 3 or 4 paddlers who will be taking part in the ranking events at Stone.
World Slalom Championships 2023
Are at the Lee Valley Why not go along and see the World’s best slalom athletes racing to be crowned World Champion. There are also plenty of chances to volunteer and be part of the amazing event.
Vintage Slalom 2023
Be Part of it … The Sharks will run the Vintage Slalom at Lee Valley on Saturday September 23rd on the Legacy Loop. There will also be a Reunion Buffet Reception at the LV Centre in the evening.
Ed Ecclestone Award
Congratulations to …. Ed Ecclestone was a quite guy, who got things done, he was involved in supporting canoe slalom at all levels, from grassroots to the GB team, he never sought the limelight or any recognition, he just wanted to make things work and support others.
Well Deserved Gordon
Outstanding Coach Award Congratulations to Gordon Walling for winning the Outstanding Coach award from British Canoeing this year. Gordon is a key player at our friends at Shepperton Slalom Canoe Club, and has been very supportive of The Sharks over the years.
