Due to Covid-19 Lockdown The Slalom Committee have taken the inevitable and sensible sessions to cancel all events in February and March 2021, they will review the situation for events later in the year in February.

Training Camp Report We held a training camp for our slalom paddlers in Llandysul, Wales, the site is used for events at al divisions in the UK calendar, so an excellent venue, for fun, practice and a weekend away.

Great Start for Shark Paddlers Shark paddlers got off to a good start at Shepperton Division 2 Slalom, picking up a number of medals over the two days of racing.
Go Emily … 13-year-old Emily Potts entered her first slalom at Stone in Staffordshire, she has been training with The Sharks over Winter and won her first event on Saturday, the Ladies’ K1 event.
Let’s get ready for Slalom 2020 The Slalom calendar and bib numbers for 2020 have been published and are available on the Canoe Slalom Website. In total we have 17 nationally ranked paddlers and a number of new paddlers who we expect to get promoted early on in the season.
Report and Results Another wet weekend, but this did give some decent water for the slalom, which was challenging. The last slalom of the season and was not going to see any promotions, but the chance to vie for Top Shark paddler and to get a good bib number for next season.
James at the Dart James Read was racing the weekend on the River Dart in Devon. Takin part in a Division 2 Slalom, Men’s K1.
Results from the Yat Symonds Yat, is a fantastic location on the English/Welsh boarder, with a good set of rapids on which a challenging course can be set. Such a shame for the second year running that the event had to be curtailed due to climate issues.
Well Done Alex Alex Aldred is the latest Shark paddler to get promoted to National Division 2 in Slalom Canoeing at the weekend with an impressive 20th place finish as a paddle up (method where paddlers can race one division above their ranking status to gain additional points) in the Lee Valley Division 2 Slalom.
Slalom Results from Cardington Some great paddling at Cardington on Saturday 31st of August and 1st September in the Cardington Division 2, 3 and 4 slalom. Due to Holidays and other commitments we only had a very small team there, but they did us proud.
Well Done James Read Coming 6th in the Division 2 slalom at Llandysul. The highest placed paddler this season for The Sharks and James’s best result ever. The position earned him 300 points and now places him 39th in Division 2 with 1,248 points.
Orton Mere Results July 2019 Brilliant Day weekend for Shark paddlers, who stormed to take first and second place in the Men’s Dive 3 K1 event on Saturday, Khaleel Ziauddin won the event collecting 250 points, enough to take him over the 1,100 threshold from 5 events and therefore being promoted to Division 2.
Division 2 is getting closer Another great performance from Khaleel Ziauddin on both Saturday and Sunday means he is getting so close to securing promotion.
Khaleel is on form Khaleel Ziauddin is the on form Shark paddler at the moment as he took 5th and 4th places in the Men’s Division 3 slalom at Cardington on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Still Got What it Takes Our Slalom Coach Rick Moore was in action at the Re-Union Slalom at the Lee Valley at the Weekend, part of the celebration events surrounding the World Cup event that was taking place.
Results from Ironbridge Slalom Mel Moore and Rick More took third place in the C2 event on both Saturday and Sunday at Ironbridge, collecting 39 and 132 points on the respective days, putting them in 15th place in the national ranking lost with 171 points.
Well Done James As some of our younger paddlers were competing at the London Youth Games and Winchester, James Read was racing at Llandysul Slalom.
New Stars in the Making The Sharks made their first appearance at Winchester for a few years, one of our favourite sites for beginners it has been a successful venue for our paddlers and 2019 was no exception.
Well done Jacob and James at Matlock Slalom Jacob Simpson and James Read were racing at the Matlock Division 2 slalom.
Results James Read made the trip to Llandysul to compete as a paddle-up in the Division 1 slalom on both Saturday and Sunday. Paddling up at this level is always tough and well done to James for taking on the challenge.
The Season Starts ….. The 2019 Slalom season is underway and it was good to see Shark paddlers at the first event of the season. The event a national ranking Division 2 slalom took place at Shepperton Weir on the River Thames. There were two events, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Promotion to Division 2 Slalom Jacob Simpson has won promotion to National Division Slalom Division 2 at the last event 0f the 2018 season, which took place on the River Dart in Devon at the weekend.
October Shepperton Results Two fantastic performances in Division 3 from our paddlers took them both to the verge of promotion to national Division 2 at the weekend’s Shepperton Slalom.
To promotion at Symonds Yat Jacob Simpson took another step closer to promotion to National Division 2 in Men’s K1 slalom at the weekend my getting a fourth place finish (first J16) in the event at Symonds Yat, giving him 200 points.
Nene Slalom Report Maybe naming a canoe club after a creature that lives in the water rather than on it; may explain the number of swimmers we had at the weekend.
Well Done James 21st in the Lee Valley Division 2 Men’s K1 event on Sunday. The event was held on the legacy course of the 2012 Olympic venue, some tricky water.
Sun, Fun and Some great paddling The Sharks had five paddlers racing at Cardington at the weekend; a great event organised by Viking Canoe Club.
And more specifcally to The Sharks The Sharks are entering into a partnership with the Colne Valley Regional Park, to help clear Floating Pennywort from the Colne Valley and the BBC’s Countryfile Programme were interested to know all about it.
Harefield Sessions are currently suspended due to Covid-19 restrcitions. With the easing of Covid-19 restrictions we are able to restart our slalom sessions at Harefield at 1pm on Sunday afternoons.

Returning to Paddling at NW10 (Harlesden/Park Royal) With Coroner virus restrictions expected to be eased on 29th March, The Sharks are proposing to start paddling sessions at our NW10 site on Thursday 1st April.
