Another Great Shark Weekend

Cardington Slalom is proving to be a successful place for Shark paddlers, as we get more medals and another three promotions!

Division 4

The Saturday event saw our first promotions as Meshach Lewis took first place and Jaafa El Haddad took third place in the Men’s K1 race to earning them both promotion to National Division 3. Ubayda Hadjali was in 5th place and Kurt White took 6th Place.

On Sunday a battle between Ubayda Hadjali and Kurt White was very close, with just 0.2 of a second between them as Ubayda, sneaked in second and Kurt was third, unfortunately neither were promoted.

But in the Ladies’ K1 race Fleur Harman stormed home first by 22 seconds and now claims her place in National Division 3.

Division 3

Hudayfa Hadjali, was racing in Division 3 Men’s K1 for the first time, after his promotion at Shepperton and he took second place on Saturday, gaining his first 284 points, on Sunday, he upped the pace and took first place and adding another 250 points to his total. He now has 488 points and is ranked 48th in National Division 3, another promotion looks likely.

Having been promoted on Saturday, Jaafa El Haddad raced in his forts Division 3 event on Sunday, coming 21st and picking up 50 points.

Jasmin Uhlhorn was Division 3 event in the Ladies’ K1 on Sunday, she came sixth and collected 176 points, bringing her tally to 326 from two events,. She is currently ranked 34th.

Division 2

Khaleel Ziauddin raced both Saturday (26th – 171 points) and Sunday (13th – 318 points) to regain his place as The Sharks top Slalom Paddler. He is now ranked 56th in National Division 2 Men’s K1 with 489 points.

Also racing Division 2 on Sunday was Neal Underwood, coming 33rd and picking up 15 points.

Canoe Doubles

Jasmin Uhlhorn and Neal Underwood made their debut as a C2 pair ion Sunday, coming 5th and second mixed crew.

Many Thanks to Viking Kayak Club for hosting the event, we look forward to next year’s events and hopefully we will have even more Shark paddlers there.
