Sprint 2021

Let Us Look Ahead

The dates for National Sprint Regattas have been announced for 2021, this may seem a long time off, but it gives us something positive to look forward to at this difficult time.

We now have plenty of time to build our Shark Team up, so that we can take a team of paddlers to each National Sprit Regatta next year. Even if you have never sat in a kayak or canoe, we can make this come true together, all we need is for you to want to give it a try!

Sprint Canoeing is a very fast exciting sport and The Sharks have had many paddlers race at the Nationals in the past, we are now rebuilding our Sprint Section and are looking for more paddlers, maybe you already paddle, been in another discipline, of even if you have never paddled before, why not take a look at our Sprint Web Page and then give us a call on 07951 770241 or email us: canoeing@thesharks.org.uk and find out more?

The dates for the national events in 2021 are: Saturday April 17th and Sunday 18th Cancelled due to Covid-19), June 5th & 6th (cancelled due to Covid-19), the 10th and 11th of July, and September 4th and 5th. Our Route to Nottingham!

Well, yes, it is just up the M1, but before we do that we need to get paddlers ready to race and this starts by you joining one of our racing sessions, which are currently at:

Southall, and NW10 (Harlesden/Park Royal), this site is in its early days and we are working very closely with the Old Oak Common and Park Royal Development Corporation to help develop facilities at this site and for a long-term project delivering top quality facilities for paddlers.

We will soon be opening a racing section at Harefield, which will utilise both the canal and Troy Lake.

We will start lessons and sessions at all of these site, once Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed sufficiently for us to do so. Once you have picked up the relevant skills, we will organise some local races for fun and experience, then enter some regional events and meets with other clubs, once you have the speed, and desire, then we can head up the M1 too Nottingham.

With these options spread across West London there is no reason why we cannot become one of the top Sprint Clubs, all we need is you.
