In the Papers again – September Shepperton results

The Sharks make the papers again! From the Uxbridge Gazette – September 16th 2015

Elsewhere, Rod Grundy and Jasmine Abdi Allah topped the pile for Harefield Sharks in a clean sweep for the club in the canoe doubles at Shepperton.

Grundy and Allah crossed the line in first ahead of club mates Joel Gunnery and Johan Kukkohori in second and Amelia Combes and Shivani Makwana grabbing bronzes. Several Sharks were taking part in their first paddling slalom and Khaleel Zianddin made an instant impression by scooping silver to earn promotion to National Division 3.

Adam Abdi Allah, Gunnery and Kukkohori also performed admirably in their outing in this discipline. In Men’s Division 3, Adam Stewart took second on the opening day and followed up with a sixth-placed finish just 24 hours later. Aaron Nolan moved up from fifth to second over the course of the weekend and is now a favourite for promotion to Division 2. James Read was 10th on day one and eighth on day two. Lianna Nolan started out in fourth in the Ladies’ Division 3 event before moving up to third. Chelsea Ludlow was fifth. Amelia Combes paddled canoe (C1) in Division 3 and won on both days, while Shivani Makwana won the Ladies’ Division 4 Kl competition.

Event organiser and Shark slalom team manager Grant Underwood said: “It was great to see so many paddlers having a great time at a Shark event and even better still to see Shark paddlers picking up medals and having fun. We are always looking out for new people to join the club, no experience is required and we provide all the kit and a great place to start is at our pool sessions at Hillingdon Leisure Centre on Tuesday evenings.”
