Marching Forward ’24

A Fantastic Month

March 2024, has proven to be a great month for The Sharks as we continue to develop paddling opportunities for communities across the area and to support athletes at all levels.

Competitions

Despite some weather issues, Shark paddlers were involved in three Wild Water Races in March; Neal Underwood raced at Barrow and on the Daleks at Holme Pierrepoint, whilst Grant Underwood at Grandtully.

The Sharks hosted the final race of our Winter Mini-Marathon series, in which Ivijah Campbell-Bryan raced. Whilst Grant Underwood was racing in the Linlithgow Winter Time Trials. We also held a Mini-Marathon at Harlesden, with Liah Boyle and Ivijah Campbell-Bryn taking part.

Harlesden Re-Launch

For most on 2023, we were unable to access the canal at Harlesden, we now have improved access and facilities thanks to Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, a new established a partnership with Young Brent Foundation and their narrowboat project, The John Lyon; giving us good reason to celebrate a new era of Canalside activities in Harlesden.

Partnerships

We have linked up with Queens Park Rangers Community Trust to work together to deliver mor kayaking opportunities to more people.

As always there is a lot going on in the background to help grow The Sharks and we are working closely with new partners and expect to make an important announcement soon.
