Poor weather and big water create challenges at Shepperton

Results from the Shepperton Slalom – June 2016.

Khaleel1Poor weather and consistent rain is playing havoc with canoeing events across the Country, this weekend The Sharks were at Shepperton, for one of the few local slaloms. The Division 3 and 4 event was on bigger water than usual for this event and proved a challenging race for young paddlers.

In the Men’s division three kayak event, Khaleel Zainddin was racing for The Sharks, an exhausting first run was interrupted by another paddler and Khaleel had to do it all again. His second run was his best run and lifted him into tenth place and second Junior 14.

Amelia Amelia Comes was also racing in division 3, she was paddling a single canoe in the Ladies’ event in which she came second in both the event and the Junior 14s gaining 846 points, if she can maintain that average over the season, then she should be promoted to Division 2.

MaciejIn the Division 4, entry level event, Maciej Waszczyaz was paddling in his third ever event and probably the toughest water yet, he manged a 7th place and gained a lot of experience for the future.

YahiemandKhaleelYahiem Keely partnered Khaleel Zainddin in the Canoe Doubles event, this was only  Yahiem’s second ever event and it was a very tough course.
