Be Part of it …

The Sharks will run the Vintage Slalom at Lee Valley on Saturday September 23rd on the Legacy Loop. There will also be a Reunion Buffet Reception at the LV Centre in the evening.

Full Details for the race and the reunion are below, but as in 2019 event, day-time attendance will require a ticket for the Canoe Slalom World Championships which are taking place at Lee Valley that weekend, so do take advantage of the discounted prices by clicking here.

What is Vintage Slalom?

Vintage Slalom is a fun race for twentieth century boats, with a time reduction for boat age and paddler age. The competition rules from the 1980’s will be followed, with 5 penalties per pole you hit (not 2 per gate – makes clean runs far more significant – test your skills!), Reverse Gates as well as Forward gates (both up and down stream) and in 4 metre single boats and double canoes 4.5+ m.

Elektra kayak by Krakatoa (1980)

This event is not just for the older paddler, but a chance for younger people to see and experience how the sport has changed. You can decide if that change has been for the better. What we do guarantee is some fun and it does not matter at what level you compete, if you are competent to paddle the Legacy Channel then this is an event for you.
