Sunshine on Slalom
Decent weather always makes canoeing events just that little bit better and what a great weekend Shepperton Slalom Canoe Club put on for the Slalom World. Thank you.
We had five paddlers taking part over the weekend and we must give special congratulations to Ivijah Campbell-Bryan for completing his firs Division 2 event, on what was tricky water, there were quite a few swimmers over the weekend, but none of them Sharks.
Div 1 Men’s K1
Semir Ahmed, who also coaches for us at Thamesmead, was racing in Division 1 on Saturday and came 21st, he is now ranked 35th in National Division 1, with 397 points.

Div 2 Men’s K1
Ivijah was our only Division 2 paddler at the weekend and he raced on both Saturday and Sunday, he took 13th place on Saturday and Sunday, collecting 71 points on each day, this puts him in 33rd place in National Division 2.

Veterans Men’s K1
Three competitors in this class and 4 podium finishes.
First on both days was Daniel Lomas, He is sitting in second place in the National Veterans Rankings, having collected 2.042 points from 3 events, Alan Tyler, who’s is above him has done three events and came second to Danial on both days at Shepperton.

Our Slalom Coach, Rick Moore was third on both days, including a clear run on Sunday. He now has 1,284 points from two events and sits 11th in the National Rankings.

Jannik Petersmann raced on Saturday and came 4th, collecting 199 points to add to his total, he is now in 19th place in the Rankings.
