2 Days, 2 races at HPP
A festival of slalom canoeing on Nottingham’s artificial slalom course took place last weekend, with an event at every level from Premier to Division 4 taking place, utilising different stretches of water at the Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre.
Our Slalom Coach, Rick Moore raced on both Saturday and Sunday at different events. On Saturday he won the Officials Event at the Division 2/3 Slalom on the Daleks, which is on the lower sections of the course.
The Officials Event is a free to enter race for people helping to run event, acting as gate judges, time keepers, or working in Control. These roles are essential for events to take place, and can help you gain valuable experience as well as help the sport and have fun.
On Sunday he came 8th in the Veterans event at the Division 1 event, this earned Rick 573 points. He is now ranked in 12th place with a total of 1,757 points fro 3 races, everybody ranked higher has done more events. Your best 5 events count as your season total, so it is very early days.
Rick runs our slalom session at Harefield on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings, new members are always welcome, you do not need any experience of special kit, as we will provide it for you. Want to know more? Then email us: slalom@thesharks.org.uk.
