KAYAK talent Amelia Combes from Hanwell has won promotion to National Division Two in canoe singles in slalom after a great weekend.

The 14-year-old, who goes to Drayton Manor High School and represents Ealing club, The Sharks, was promoted after her success at Cardington slalom at the weekend.

She took first place on each day in the Division Three event, with a result that would have put her high up in the Division Two event taking place at the same time. As well as racing in C1, she also took part in the Division Two Kayak singles (K1) event, where she came 11th on Saturday and 10th on Sunday.
