Charity Race in Thamesmead – July 2026

Move for Meals

Congratulations to those who turned up for the Charity Race organised by the Abbey Wood staff at Sainsbury’s and Argos, to raise money for Move For Meals, which is part of Comic Relief. The event was hosted by The Sharks, whose staff donated their time to the cause. Donate here.

On the day we had 13 paddlers from the local store, who are hoping to raise £2,500 for the Charity. You can help them my making a donation here, and helpchildren and families across the UK access the nutritious food they need to learn, grow and thrive!

The Event

A general introduction for new paddlers, some fun paddling around getting used to kayaking in our new Sit-on-Tops, which are easy to use and very stable.

This was followed by a race from Cygnet Square to the Boat House.

The Result

First place was Tate and Neal with a time of 2 minutes and 58 seconds, followed by Dave and Jose in a time of 3:05.

The first single was Luke with 3:07, followed by Ben 3:22.

Zainab and Michelle, were next, their time was 3:27, Bentley, in a single took 3:37, ahead of Shantell and Conan (4:30), followed by Haddy and Josiah (5:40).

Congratulations to everybody who took part, hope to see you back on the water soon and getting ready for you nest adventure and helping to raise money for good causes.
