2026 first race – the Barrow results
Yes, the 2026 racing season has begun with a Wild Water race at the Barrow, a somewhat cold day, with a river swollen by snow melt, but also a nice sunny day and a lot of fun.
As stated above the River was very high, out of its banks in various places, so the down and up course was used. Racing down from Barrow to Pillings Lock and back, a good flow made the paddle down very quick, but much harder coming back!

Mens K1
There were 5 paddlers who braved the weather, and the fastest of the day was Grant Underwood, with a time of 14:46.75, he was 18th over all and earns 1,610 points and as this is the first race of the season he is currently ranked 18th in the UK.

Just one place and 15 seconds behind Grant was Ivijah Campbell-Bryan (15:01.14). He was first Under-16 on the day, and now in the ranking lists, his points tally was 1,584.

Neal Underwood was in 21st place, 4th V65, his time was 15:44.28, earning 1,507 points.

Third J14 and 25th over all was Mohammed Bouhassane, with a time of 18:37.39, and 1,235 points.

Saalih Syed, was 28th and 5th J14, with a time 20:01.91, collecting 1,045 points.

Men’s C2

Another great day and as always thanks to Soar Valley Canoe Club for hosting the event, The Moorings Public House for making their facilities available for the race, as well as paddlers, coaches and everybody helping to support the race, the cubs and our sport.
