Remember September ’25

A very busy month

September 2025, was an amazing month in Shark history, breaking new ground and building for the future.

Following the launch of our activities at Southmere in Thamesmead, we hosted our first race, a regional Wild Water Race on Thursday evening, 4th September. It was a huge success.

The Deputy Mayor of London Mete Coban MBE, attended the day as part of a visit to Thamesmead, previously The Sharks had a site meeting with James Hinves, Paddle UK’s Discipline Development Officer, he was there to help us and advise on our plans for the future, details of which we are working on and will be published soon.

The event was a huge success, introducing 21 new paddlers to racing! A significant day for The Sharks, our paddlers, and our Thamesmead project.

Another first came at the weekend, when The Sharks made our first appearance at the Interclubs Slalom, we teamed up with Cheltenham and Stroud Valley canoe clubs to will the combined clubs award.

On the following Thursday we had 14 paddlers turn up for our monthly Southall Super Sprints event.

The last Wednesday of the month was a big one: In the morning we hosted the annual Great Harlesden Charity Canoe Race, which was won by Murphy’s for the second year running and they too home the Donald Moore Trophy and tickets to watch a home match at Queens Park Rangers, donated by the Football Club.

As well as Murphy’s teams from Garden Studios, McVities, Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, helped raise money for Brent Food Bank and Queens Park Rangers Community Trust. You can still donate to this cause please, you can pay into our Fund at: The Sharks Sports Group CIC, Sort Code: 08-92-99, A/C Number: 67417911, please reference the payment Harlesden Charity Race.
