Interclubs Slalom 2025

A weekend of fun and paddling

The Sharks raced at the Canoe Slalom Interclubs event at Cardington for the first time and had a great time, as well as racing, the event has a social side to bring clubs and paddlers together.

Saturday

As we did not have a fun team, we joined up with Stroud Valley and Cheltenham Canoe Clubs and we are pleased to say the triple alliance won the combined clubs trophy.

The Shark/Stroud/Cheltenham Team Vet/Div 2/Div 3 Team, was in fact entirely Shark paddlers, Rick Moore, Grant Underwood, and Ivijah Campbell-Bryan. They came 8th and are still arguing over who hit gate 11.

The C1W, C1M, and C2 crew featured Grant Underwood and Neal Underwood in the C2, taking 8th place.

Liah Boyle paddled up, to represent us in the Ladies Premier K1 event, coming 9th in an event that was 3 divisions above her.

A really fun day of team paddling, an evening of socialising before camping the night.

Sunday

And first Shark up was Rick Moore in the Veterans K1 Men, taking 6th place.

Grant Underwood came 8th in the Men’s Division 2 race, with a clear run.

Ivijah Campbell-Bryan came 9th in the Men’s K1 Division 3 event

Grant Underwood and Neal Underwood, took 8th place in the C2 event.

Before prize giving a communal dismantling of the course, everyone taking part had to be involved in running the event, everyone had to judge or be in control at some point, all paddlers were involved in taking down and putting away the course. A great community event and excellent training for people to understand just what is involved in running an event.

Thank you to the organisers of this event. The Sharks will be back and we are now looking for a Shark member or parent of a member, or to be honest anybody who will volunteer, to co-ordinate our team for 2026, you won’t be left on your own, you will be guided and supported by our coaches and more experienced paddlers but it would be a great opportunity for The Sharks to attend this event every year.
