The Barrow 2025/2026 Series

Starts on October 4th

The Legendary Barrow Wild Water Race series starts on Saturday October 4th and continues once a moth through to March 2026.

Traditionally The Sharks have entered big teams in these events and we want to grow our team so we dominate these races. They are great fun, it is a really good day out and a nice 3k paddle. So why not join us?

The race is 3k long and is on a gentle flowing stream to make the paddle easier, there are no rocks or rapids, so it is suitable for anybody who can paddle 3k. You can use any boat. You can enter online here. If you need help entering please contact us on 07951 770241 or email: canoeing@thesharks.org.uk, and we will help you, if you have raced before your details will be on the system making it even easier.

We meet at the Moorings, Barrow-on-Soar, LE12 8PN, at 9am, for a briefing at 9:30, the race starts at 10am. After the briefing we paddle along the canal to the start, it is about 1k and then portage (transfer) to the River. The race goes round a loop and comes back to the Moorings. The race format is a time trial with paddlers setting off every minute. So unless you are first or last you are chasing and being chased.

Check out our last trip here.

Barrow-on-Soar is about 120 miles from London and takes about two-and-a-half hours to drive.

After the race most of us usually go for a meal in a local establishment and make a day of the trip.

For more information, please talk to us either by phone/text on 07951 770241 or email: canoeing@thesharks.org.uk. You can of course talk to us at one of our sessions.
