Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race

Who wants to give this ago at sometime in the Future?

The Devizes to Westminster Canoe race takes place every Easter; it is 125 miles from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster on the Thames. It is a tough race, in K2 seniors you do it in one hit, paddling through the night. K1s and junior crews do it as a stage race over four days, which I assure you is not easier!

It is a fantastic achievement, showing ability, courage and determination, to just finish.

Take  look at their website: http://dwrace.co.uk. The Sharks are looking for people who would like to do this in future, think about it?

We will start a racing section at Havelock/Three Bridges in Southall this Summer, another in Hayes and hopefully we will be doing some race training at Harefield before long. So there will be plenty of opportunities, we also have coaches with relevant experience to get you there. So why not give it a go? Come down and talk to us at one of our sessions; in Southall, Hayes, Harefield or Osterley, or email canoeing@thesharks.org.uk.  or call on 07951 770241.

Have a watch of the video below; some of you may recognise one of the competitors, Susan Templeton, who is still paddling and attends or slaloms and runs the Southern Series of Wild Water Races for The Sharks.

This is a long term project; we would like to hear from local schools, Scouts and other groups, who are up to the challenge for 2019 and beyond.
