Building Opportunities During 2025, The Sharks have undertake a massive project to create something special in Thamesmead, a Water Sports Facility with a difference, and in the last few months we have been investing.
A Club for all Seasons As Autumn fades away and the weather has cooled down somewhat, The Sharks are still going from strength to strength.
Results for our WWR Storm Claudia threatened and after a Friday or heavy rain, we were expecting a furious weir at Harefield, but the rain kept off for the event and for a mid November day it was very mild. Water was not as powerful as we hoped, but the fun was.
Another Packed Month One of our busiest months of the Year, events, teaching and so much more going on.

A truly great event Those of you who were not there, you missed one of the great fun events of the year, many thanks to the organisers for running such a great event.
Who is Southall’s fastest Racer? With the conclusion of the inaugural Southall Super Sprints with the final race of the season taking place on third Thursday in October, (16th), we now know who has won the series medals.
A very busy month September 2025, was an amazing month in Shark history, breaking new ground and building for the future.
The Charity Race of the year The second Great Harlesden Charity Canoe Race took part on Wednesday 24th September, raising money for local charities, the Brent Food Bank and Queens Park Rangers Community Trust. Both these charities support local people.
A weekend of fun and paddling The Sharks raced at the Canoe Slalom Interclubs event at Cardington for the first time and had a great time, as well as racing, the event has a social side to bring clubs and paddlers together.
Wow, What a month! A scorcher, that was for sure and Britain basked in another heatwave, which as nice and it might be, does affect canoeing as it impacts on water levels.
A stunning Month July 2025 proved to be an amazing month for The Sharks as we basked in a heatwave or two, brining paddler son to the water.
Another hot month for Sharks Only one competition in June but a very busy month for the Club as things started to heat up!
An action packed month … May 2025 was a pivotal month for The Sharks, with a lot going on, not a single weekend without a major activity happening. a huge thank you to our staff and coaches for enabling this to happen.

WWR Championship Results. The Sharks are officially the Wild Water racing Champions of London after sweeping up several top places in the recent London Regional WWR Championships held at Shepperton over the Bank Holiday Weekend.
Springing in to action Although only one competition, but what a competition, we were busily restarting all of our sessions and getting people back on the water.

Become The Legacy #2 13th December Yes, we are back racing at Southmere Lake in Thamesmead, creating The Legacy, click here to enter, and for more information. This event is designed for newcomers to the sport, it is about having fun and gaining experience.
Saturday 27th December Need to get out for a while and escape the celebrations for some peace and quiet of the canal? The we have the ideal event for you: The Christmas Cedric Avery Mini-Marathon, starting at 11am.
Plenty of races to get involved with The Sharks have targeted a number of races for us to get involved with some are on our own home territory, other involve day trips or overnight stays. Get involved, have fun and see how far you can go.
The First Race of the New Year Racing in 2026 commences on Saturday 10th January at the Legendary Barrow-Upon-Soar Race, organised by Soar Valley Canoe Club.
Saturday 17th January 2026 Two races for the price of one, a day out in Burton-on-Trent, a race suitable of all standards, beginners to experience paddlers. Sprint event in the morning (200m) and 2k classic in the afternoon.
Next Race 8th November The Legendary Barrow Wild Water Race series next race on Saturday November 8th and continues once a moth through to March 2026.
Monthly Mini-Marathons The next race takes place on Saturday 27th December. The last Saturday of each month. Full details are here, with Risk Assessment here.
Our annual Sprint challenge in Harlesden. We have introduced a new challenge at our base in Harlesden, NW10, a monthly Sprint race on the canal with distances of 200m, 500m and 1,000m. Next race is Wednesday April 15th 2026.
Our annual challenge in Southall We have set up a series of Sprint evenings in Southall, running in the Summer moths to give everyone the chance to see how they are progressing, to have some fun and enjoy racing. Great for spectators too.
The Final of the 2025 Series Summer paddling at Harlesden draws in and we hosted our final Sprint races of the season, including a race with and for Harlesden Primary School youngsters attending the after school club.
A new event with a difference A small group of Shark Paddlers tried out an event with a difference, it was more about time on the water and learning new skills, in preparation for competition, although there were some non-ranking races to help.
Preparing for Marathon The Sharks have introduced the Harlesden GS Series, the races are 3.5k long and are aimed at preparing youngsters for the Geoff Sanders Races at ranking marathons. However, we also run races for seniors.
