A new event with a difference
A small group of Shark Paddlers tried out an event with a difference, it was more about time on the water and learning new skills, in preparation for competition, although there were some non-ranking races to help.
The Event took place in Cromford, Near Matlock in the Derbyshire Dales. One of the most stung areas of England its is worth the visit just for the scenery. The aim of the visa was to have fun and explore the possibilities for a Club trip next year. And Yes we will go, it was brilliant fun! Probably the August Bank Holiday Weekend (29th -31st August 2026), so put it in your diary now.
Cromford is about a two-and-half Hours drive from London, obviously depends where about in London, but it is an easy drive, motorway most of the way.
Wild Water Race
Saturday morning and early afternoon was a Wild Water Race, plenty of time to practice the course on a nice stretch of river with some turns and rapids, ideal for learning the sport.

In the afternoon there was slalom training provided by members of the British Team, how good is that? Being able to have people with that level of experience on the water with you is huge.
Slalom
On the Sunday there was a slalom competition, to show off the skills you had learnt the day before, and after the event the water was open for even more practice.
