May 2025 – Was Great

An action packed month …

May 2025 was a pivotal month for The Sharks, with a lot going on, not a single weekend without a major activity happening. a huge thank you to our staff and coaches for enabling this to happen.

Thamesmead

The launch of Thamesmead was a major event for The Sharks, on Bank Holliday Monday we hosted a free come and try it event at Thamesmead, which attracted 150 people, despite not the best of weather. We are now running regular sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with much more planned.

This facility will host many events and activities and will be run by The Sharks Sports Group CIC in Partnership with Peabody Housing Association.

Elmbridge – Marathon

We were at Elmbridge Marathon, in early May, where Anaya Dhillon took third place in her first ever kayak race.

Ivijah Campbell-Bryan stepped up to Division 9 and came 8th

Marathon racing is a discipline we should be getting more paddlers to, it is a lot of fun and there are competitions for all level, so don’t be shy come and join us, especially suitable for paddlers at Harlesden and Southall, where we have great marathon training facilities.

The Sharks at Shepperton Slalom

Two days of slalom fun, with camping for those so inclined, a team event, trying day and tow days of individual competition, which saw a number of new faces taking part and bringing in some very young paddlers to the sport. It was a really fun event, but hard work so big thank you to all those who helped make this such a great success and big thank you to Shepperton Slalom Canoe Club for lining us their facilities and helping us run this event, Click here for more details.

And if that was not enough on Wednesday we were with Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation and Young Brent Foundation launching a summer of activities at Harlesden Canalside.
