Our annual Sprint challenge in Harlesden.
We have introduced a new challenge at our base in Harlesden, NW10, a monthly Sprint race on the canal with distances of 200m, 500m and 1,000m. Next race is Wednesday April 15th 2026.
The series launched this year will run every last Wednesday of the month from April to October.
This is a fun event with a serious side to it. Having fun is the most important thing, and we welcome all abilities and love spectators to cheer the paddlers on. Being active on the water is good for your mental and physical health. This fun challenge helps you get fitter and also will help track your progress, and who knows where it might lead?
Times for the current 200m series are available as a pdf, or download as an Excel file.
500 metre pdf, or historic results in Excel.
1,000 metres pdf, 1,000m Excel.
Thanks to the support of Paddle UK, we were able to run this event for free in 2025, we are also generously supported by Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation, and KSP (GLi Urban Life), this has enabled us to establish and grow the project in Harlesden. Maybe your organisation would like to help us build the legacy? For more information please get in touch call/text: 07951 770241 or email: canoeing@thesharks.org.uk.
It s not only for youngsters, our older competitive paddler is 87-year-old Richard Davis. Canoeing is the sport for all. Please help us build the greatest club ever, by coming along and getting involved.
We are meeting at the Container in the carpark (free at weekends, but a small charge during weekdays) at Disraeli Road, NW10 7AE. We are next to Beit el Zaytoun Restaurant in Park Royal, which is just a few minutes walk from Harlesden Station . So very easy to get to. We highly recommend Beit el Zaytoun, and there is also the Grand Junction Arms just across the canal for some post paddling refreshments.

In 2026, we will also be introducing a School Challenge Trophy for both Primary Schools and High Schools. This year would have been dominated by Harlesden Primary School, but we are expecting a couple of new challengers in 2026 (St. Mary’s and West Twyford). This year’s high school challenge would have been very close between Elvin Ark and Acton Ark.
