Harlesden GS Series

Preparing for Marathon

The Sharks have introduced the Harlesden GS Series, the races are 3.5k long and are aimed at preparing youngsters for the Geoff Sanders Races at ranking marathons. However, we also run races for seniors.

The course starts and finishes at Acton Lane Bridge. The meeting at the Disraeli Road Car Park, NW10 7AE. Parking is free at weekends, there is a small charge Monday to Friday.

Paddlers race west bound along the canal under Abbey Road Bridge to the North Circular Aqueduct passing up the right channel, round the top and back along the other channel.

The total distance is 3.5k, which approximates to most Geoff Sanders Races at Hasler events. The Charge for these races is £7 per person, we can provide boats to non-Shark paddlers if we are asked in advance, we have some stable boats and plenty of Lightenings.

The Race is also open to older paddlers, these races are not part of the ranking system, we host them to give people a regular challenge (see how you are improving), but also to prepare youngsters for their entry level races. Any paddle powered craft are welcome.

We host them on them first Monday of each month from April to October, starting at 5pm. We will host some Saturday morning events during the Winter, which we will announce, they are part of our regular sessions.

Although we have trialed this in 2025 and you can see the results here, we have been using it for training for a number of years and have some historic times in Excel, which can be downloaded.

Come along, test yourself, have fun and keep fit.
