The First Race of the New Year

Racing in 2026 commences on Saturday 10th January at the Legendary Barrow-Upon-Soar Race, organised by Soar Valley Canoe Club.

Join us for a great day out, a fun, but competitive race at Barrow-upon-Soar, ideal for entry level paddlers and those with plenty of experience who want a good race. You can enter here.

This is truly a great fun day out and really is suitable for anybody who can paddle 3k! We meet at the Moorings Public House at Barrow-Upon-Soar, LE12 8PN, at 10am. The race begins at 11am, it starts a short paddle up from the Moorings and is a 3k loop on the River Soar, ending back at the Moorings. After the race you can either go home, or you can join us for a meal and some social chat in one of the many local food outlets. in and around Loughborough.

The Barrow is about 120 miles north of London and takes about 2 hours to drive there. If you would like further information, give us a call/text on 07951 770241, or email: canoeing@thesharks.org.uk. We can plan lifts etcetera to make it easier, cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

You can race in any type of kayak or canoe, entry fees are just £7 per person. Over the years we have had some great times at the Barrow.
