Shepperton Slalom Results

Well Done James

The Sharks were in action at Shepperton at the weekend for the last slalom of the 2016 season, a division 2 and 3 double and finished the year is style with James Read being promoted to National Division 2 in Men’s K1 on the Saturday. A second place finish giving him enough points to secure promotion and enable him to race in the Division 2 race on Sunday, where he came 11th, which is pretty good for a first time out. Congratulations James.

James and Amelia at Shepperton

Amelia Combes was also in action in Division 2 for The Sharks competing on both days in Ladies K1 and Ladies C1. Showing amazing consistency coming 5th in each event on both days.  This was Amelia’s first race in Division 2 for Canoe singles after her recent promotion. Amelia’s performances through the year will ensure the 14-year-old from Hanwell will be starting the 2017 season in division 2 for both Kayak and Canoe Singles.

Amelia is The Sharks top ranked Canoe paddler and she is the top ranked lady in all disciplines.

Paddling on both days in Division 3 Men’s K1 was Khaleel Zainddin, also just 14-years old, he came 9th on both days. Khaleel was promoted at the end of last season and has gradually risen up the division and will start nest year as one of the higher ranked paddlers in division 3 and should be looking at promotion to division 2 in 2017. Khaleel lives in Harrow.

Khaleel and Joel at Shepperton

Joel Gunnery raced on Sunday in Men’s Division 3 K1 and the thirteen-year-old from West Drayton, came 6th and is another name to look out for in 2017 as he will also be pushing for an early promotion to Division 2, having gradually moved up the division this season.
