London Youth Games Report – 2022

C2 Symonds Yat Winners
Rick winning again Rick Moore, was again winning gold, this time in canoe doubles with Richard Cromer at Symonds Yat.

Shepperton Slalom March 2022
Rick Rides the Wave The Division one Slalom at Shepperton at the weekend provided the ideal slalom conditions, big water and sunshine and our Slalom Coach, Rick Moore was there to make the most of it.

The Slalom Season Has Started
Rick Moore is our first competitor Club Slalom Coach, Rick Moore, started the season for us at Lee Valley Division 1 event on Saturday, in Men’s Veteran K1.
This is how we did in 2021 As restrictions were lifted we were able to get back to competition, in all we attended 11 events during teh year, most of which were slalom.

Runner up in National Championships Congratulations to Rick Moore, who finished the Slalom season as runner-up in the National Veterans, Slalom Rankings, with another first place at the Lee Valley at the Weekend.
Harefield Slalom Results 2021
A Trio of Promotions Well done to Joe Pawley, David Spikings and John Williams-Kerslake on getting promoted to Men’s’ Division3 Slalom at the Harefield Slalom this weekend.

Another win for Rick As this strange slalom season heads towards its final few races, it has got very exciting at the top of the Veterans League in Men’s K1 Slalom, with our coach Rick Moore in second place with the slimmest of margins, having led for most of the season.
2021 London Youth Games Report
Sharks at LYG Post Pandemic, this was the first chance for some of our paddlers to race, for three of them it was their first race ever, so well done to all of those who took part. Onwards and upwards!
Aaron is on the Rise
Another First Placed Shark at Shepperton Aaron Nolan now has to race just once more to ensure his early return to Division 2, having taken first place at Shepperton on Sunday by a staggering 6.3 seconds.
NW10 Time Trials June 17th
The First of Many We had an impromptu time trail at NW10, Harlesden/Park Royal on Thursday 17th June, just four paddlers on what had been an indecisive weather day. But great to kick start our programme get NW10 racing.
Llandysul June 2021 – Results
Richard I Our Slalom Coach Rick Moore was in fine form at the weekend winning the Veterans K1 Race at Llandysul on Both Saturday and Sunday and claiming top spot in the National Rankings.

Royal Marathon Report – June 2021 Shark paddlers were on top form on Sunday at the Royal Marathon, at Teddington, after an absence for Marathon racing for over 18 months, The Sharks are back!

Still Dooking after all this time
Sharks Seen Swimming in the Tay Whilst all official organised Dooks have had to be cancelled, people up and down the Countries have taken to Wild Swimming and we are pleased to say that The Sharks have been keeping the annual tradition of Dooking alive through the pandemic.
2020 Ranking Slalom Season to End
No More Ranking Events This Year Sadly, but understandably the British Canoeing’s Slalom Committee has announced that there will be no more ranking events staged in 2020, due to Covid-19.
Shepperton Results March 2020
Great Start for Shark Paddlers Shark paddlers got off to a good start at Shepperton Division 2 Slalom, picking up a number of medals over the two days of racing.
Stone Slalom Results March 2020
Go Emily … 13-year-old Emily Potts entered her first slalom at Stone in Staffordshire, she has been training with The Sharks over Winter and won her first event on Saturday, the Ladies’ K1 event.
Matlock Race Results – March 2020
Great Days Racing for Ally Judge Ally Judge was racing in her first race as a veteran and was the first Vet in the race and also there first Wavehopper overall.
Well Done Tristram
In the year’s Thameside I race Sharks’ Coach Tristram Turner was in action at the weekend in the Thameside I race from Aldermaston to Reading a distance of 12 miles and has twelve portages.
Southampton Wild Water Race
Fun in what was some February sun Southampton Canoe Club organised a non-ranking fun Wild Water race at the weekend to test the water so to speak in order that they will run ranking races in the future.
Another Shark Champion Sam Liddy is the latest Shark Paddler to win a national championship, he is under-sixteen Wild Water racing Champion of 2019, he also won the under-sixteen Wavehopper Championship
Shepperton November Slalom
Report and Results Another wet weekend, but this did give some decent water for the slalom, which was challenging. The last slalom of the season and was not going to see any promotions, but the chance to vie for Top Shark paddler and to get a good bib number for next season.
Dart Slalom Report
James at the Dart James Read was racing the weekend on the River Dart in Devon. Takin part in a Division 2 Slalom, Men’s K1.
Symonds Yat Report
Results from the Yat Symonds Yat, is a fantastic location on the English/Welsh boarder, with a good set of rapids on which a challenging course can be set. Such a shame for the second year running that the event had to be curtailed due to climate issues.
Another Event, Another Promotion
Well Done Alex Alex Aldred is the latest Shark paddler to get promoted to National Division 2 in Slalom Canoeing at the weekend with an impressive 20th place finish as a paddle up (method where paddlers can race one division above their ranking status to gain additional points) in the Lee Valley Division 2 Slalom.

Great Result at Elmbridge Ten-year-old Nicole Dosanjh took part in her first major competition at the weekend, in the London and South East Hasler Race at Elmbridge on the River Thames, the event is part of the National Falser Competition for Canoe Marathon.
Small Beginnings The Open House Weekend events organised by OPDC (Old Oak Common and Park Royal Development Corporation), included two days of canoeing at NW10, Harlesden/Park Royal and was a great weekend, so thanks to everyone involved.
Tristram Tames the Liffey
A Brilliant performance from our Coach, Tristram Turner Congratulations to Tristram Turner and his K2 partner Daniel Seaford, on their fantastic performance on the challenging Liffey Descent in the Republic of Ireland.
September Southall Race Results
Mini-Marathons at Havelock The new mini-marathons at Havelock are underway and although a small turn out today there were some good performances and we will keep them going throughout the Winter and by next Spring we will have some star paddlers racing at ranking events.
Well Done at Cardington
Slalom Results from Cardington Some great paddling at Cardington on Saturday 31st of August and 1st September in the Cardington Division 2, 3 and 4 slalom. Due to Holidays and other commitments we only had a very small team there, but they did us proud.
James VI at Llandysul
Well Done James Read Coming 6th in the Division 2 slalom at Llandysul. The highest placed paddler this season for The Sharks and James’s best result ever. The position earned him 300 points and now places him 39th in Division 2 with 1,248 points.
New Mini-Marathon Results
From Saturday July 27th at Havelock, Southall As part of the London National City Park Festival we ran a canoe race for paddlers attending the event, many of these were local residents, some fro our regular Tuesday Sessions.
Khaleel is Promoted
Orton Mere Results July 2019 Brilliant Day weekend for Shark paddlers, who stormed to take first and second place in the Men’s Dive 3 K1 event on Saturday, Khaleel Ziauddin won the event collecting 250 points, enough to take him over the 1,100 threshold from 5 events and therefore being promoted to Division 2.
