River Dart - Saturday and Sunday 22nd & 23rd January
The first major event of 2011, saw Grant Underwood and Neal Underwood travel to Dartmoor in Devon to race on the River Dart with a team from Herts Young Mariners.
When the water is high the River Dart provides a fantastic race, with some of the best wild water in the Country. However on this occasion the water was low, but it does provide a technical race with some tricky falls and rapids on the classic. The Sprint was held below the classic course on a good stretch of water. The Dartmoor Country Park provides car parking at the finish at £5 per car, where refreshments can be bought and also has hot showers, which make the parking fee well worth while!
Saturday's event was a sprint race which saw some very good results for all paddlers:
Matt Bishop - HYM - 1st Under 16 (2 mins 35 seconds)
Torsten Krebs - Tower Hamlets - 5th Div A (2:38)
Grant Underwood - The Sharks - 1st Under 18 (2:39)
Neal Underwood - The Sharks - 1st Master (2:41)
Luke Robinson - HYM - 2nd Under 18 (2:47)
