Paddlers wanted!

We need paddlers to compete in the London Youth Games on Saturday 3rd June 2017. There are two events, slalom (well not slalom as we know it, but paddling round a set course of buoys) and 200m sprints.

Do you think you are up to the challenge, The Sharks Joel Gunnery was last year and he took gold for the London Borough of Hillingdon in the 200m Sprint.

Each London Borough can enter a team, you need to represent the borough you live in or go to school in. The Sharks team manage for the London Boroughs of Hillingdon and Hounslow. However we want you to race in these games whatever borough you live in: let us have as many Shark paddlers in as many teams as possible.

Slalom

4 Paddlers per borough needed, two boys and two girls. One senior boy and one senior girl in year 12 or  below (born after 1/9/1999). One junior boy and one junior girl in year 9 or under (born after 1/9/2002).

Sprint

6 Paddlers per borough, 3 girls and 3 boys. Junior Lightening Class (racing in Lightening boats) year 7 and under (born after 1/9/2004). Junior Cyrus Class (racing in Cyrus boats very stable racing k1s) year 10 and under (born after 1/9/2001) and Senior Cyrus Class, year 12 and under (born after 1/9/1999).

If you are eligible for either Hillingdon or the Hounslow team we will arrange a trial and select the team. If you are eligible for any other borough we will pass your details on to the relevant council officer in that borough.

The london Youth Games is an annual event and we are building teams for the future as well as selecting teams for this year. So please get involved, have fun, get fit and enjoy life.
