Results from Cardington show the growing strength of the Shark team.

A team of Shark slalom paddlers took part in races at Cardington, Bedfordshire on Saturday and Sunday 11th and 12th June 2016, showing the growing strength of The Shark team.

AmeliaC1Saturday’s event was a combined division 2, 3 and 4 (entry level) event and The Sharks were represented at all levels. In Division 2, The Sharks highest ranked lady paddler; 14-year-old Amelia Combes came 12th in Saturday’s K1 event but boosted her ranking by securing 6th place on Sunday. Amelia also competed in C1 class on Saturday and took 6th place in division 3.

Newly promoted Joel Gunnery and Conor Sheehan, both just 14-years-old took part in Saturday’s event, gaining great experience and a respectable 13th and 29th place respectively. The more experienced James Reed also raced in Saturday’s division 3 event and claimed 5th place (and first master). James also took advantage of Paddling up rules, which allow you to paddle in the division above, to race in Sunday’s event, where he came 24th.

ConorIn Division 4, two more 14-year-olds were paddling for The Sharks on Saturday Maciej Waszcyszak, in his second event, and Yaheim Keely making his debut in competitive canoeing; both of them experiencing rough water for the first time, so the third and fourth places  were well deserved. Maciej was also first Junior 14, with Yaheim second junior 14.
